Stella Coble and Allie Rose Gregg from the Harpeth Hall School will spend three weeks in Tamworth, soaking up the festival atmosphere as part of the Sister Cities of Nashville program.
The students will work with Tamworth Regional Council’s event department during the festival.
“Both of us have wanted to come to Australia, because it’s so different to every other continent,” Allie Rose said.
“I know when I travel, my family rarely stays long in one place, but now I can immerse myself in the culture and customs, because we’re here so long.”
Both said they were country music fans, but had heard so much of it back home they looked forward to hearing new music and had already listened to artists including Mustered Courage.
“We like more of the bluegrassy stuff,” Stella said.
The final-year high school students said they were excited to see the festival come together and compare it to Nashville’s CMA Music Festival.
They won’t be the only interns and students that Tamworth will have visit from Nashville, with the Sister Cities of Nashville trying to get a youth group together to visit.
The girls are living with Tamworth Regional Council director of planning and community services Jackie Kruger and her family while in Tamworth.
