Tamworth City Swimming Club coach Nicolas Monet and team manager Narelle Burke were thrilled by the performances of the two dozen Sharks who competed against swimmers from 55 other clubs from the region.
The girls’ team was first place in the overall point score while the boys ranked fifth.
Individually, most team members achieved at least one personal best time in their events, with many obtaining qualifying times for Country and State Championships.
Team members who achieved qualifying times for NSW Country Championships to be held at Sydney Olympic Park in February were Olivia Saunders, Eloise Turner, Jayden Gimbergh, William Woods, Kate Bolte, Clementine Monet, Alex Hayes, Amelia Summers, Molly Johns and Mikaela Short.
Of these swimmers, Turner, Saunders, Bolte and Short also accomplished State qualifying times, with Turner and Short to compete at the NSW State Age 10-12 Years Championships this weekend.
Short, who was ineligible to receive medals for many of her events due to the fact that she has already medalled for these events in previous State Championships, competed well for the team as an exhibition swimmer.
Nicolas Monet was particularly impressed with the cohesive team environment created by members of the senior squad who supported and nurtured their younger team mates, with all squad members demonstrating sportsmanship and support throughout the weekend.
