A week after Dynamic Syndications revealed they had muscled in on the syndication void left by Round Table Racing boss Bruce Slade's departure to Newgate Farm, Waterhouse said she was open for business at Australia's biggest sales.

Waterhouse has remained staunchly loyal to a select band of syndicators in more than 20 years at the helm of Tulloch Lodge, starting with Harry Lawton, before uniting with Denise Martin's Star Thoroughbreds, which only a year ago defected to Sydney's leading trainer Chris Waller.

Slade's Round Table Racing was then anointed Waterhouse's main syndicator, but he began the new position with Newgate Farm on January 1.

And Waterhouse said she would not rely on one main syndicator as in years gone by, instead preferring to consult with many buyers when the Magic Millions sales begin on Wednesday.

"I'm with anyone who wants to do business," Waterhouse said of her new syndication strategy. "When Bruce Slade went to become the stallion manager at Newgate Farm, I asked a number of syndicators only about a month ago, 'can we do business with you?'

"I've always been terribly loyal and solid to my syndicators. [Dynamic Syndications'] Dean Watt was quick and smart enough to be the first to make a press statement. He's just been a bit too fast for the others and I've got Dynamic, Darby [Racing] and Darren Dance [from Australian Thoroughbred Bloodstock].

"There are several others that have all said how much they would like to be doing business. I think you will find that Gai Waterhouse will be doing quite a bit of business with a number of syndicators - even at the Magic Millions.

"They'll be buying and syndicating them and I'll be speaking to a number of syndicators up at Magic Millions."

Waterhouse will still train about 20 Round Table Racing horses on her books after Slade left "with her blessing" to assume the role of director of stallions and sales at Newgate.

Waterhouse is likely to have just Ballarat's Magic Millions Clockwise Classic winner Carriages as her sole representative in Queensland's richest race on Saturday with Denman filly Right Of Way, midfield in the BJ McLachlan Stakes on the Gold Coast, set to be stranded as an emergency.

But in her typical effervescent style, Waterhouse was only too happy to talk up the chances of Carriages despite the filly having not raced since November 22.

Waterhouse is angling for a fifth win in the Magic Millions Classic after the success of Assertive Lad (2000), Excellerator (2001), Dance Hero (2004) and Driefontein (2012), the latter of which she said had very similar characteristics to Carriages.

"I'm very happy with [Carriages] and she's absolutely thriving," Waterhouse said. "She's been [in Queensland] for about two-and-a-half weeks and she trialled last Tuesday and won in a canter.

"She's quite like Driefontein ... she's very similar to her. She's a very similar filly and about the same size she was at that time and she's got a lovely chest on her. She's a very tough filly and whatever beats Carriages will win the race."

Tommy Berry, gunning for a third win in the Gold Coast feature after piloting Karuta Queen (2011) and Driefontein to their respective wins, will partner Carriages, a $15 chance with Ladbrokes on Sunday evening.

David Hayes and Tom Dabernig's Claudia Jean was a $5.50 favourite ahead of Wicked Intent on the second line at $6.
