Elderly man charged after wife found with head injuries

6.30am Police are appealing to the public for help in finding Sharon Qiang Wu, 26, who has been missing from her home in north-west Sydney since Tuesday.

The 26-year-old was last seen leaving her home on Garden Street, Telopea about 9pm on Tuesday and her family, who have been unable to contact her, reported her missing yesterday, police said.

Ms Qiang Wu - who is described as a thin 155-centimetre tall Asian woman with black shoulder-length hair - was last seen wearing a dark-blue sweater, blue jeans and white running shoes.

She was suffering from a medical condition that was not specified by police. They believe she frequents Macquarie shopping centre and Telopea and would be using public transport.

Police will be release a photograph of her later today.

6.20am A woman is fighting for her life and her husband has been charged with attempted murder after she was found with critical head injuries in a house on Brentwood Way in Castle Hill about 2.30pm yesterday, police say.

The alleged victim, 59, was treated by paramedics and taken to Westmead Hospital. She remains in a critical condition, police said.

Her 77-year-old husband was arrested by police at the house and charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent to murder and contravening a domestic AVO (apprehended violence order).

He was refused bail to appear in Parramatta Local Court this morning.
