For Tamworth trainer Theresa Stair, there was extra reason to celebrate, with Spaghetti Junction giving her her first win as a trainer.
He took out the feature Murrurundi Friendly Grocer Murrurundi Cup (2000m) at Quirindi.
At Inverell, the main drawcard was the Graham Kent Plumbing Goodwood Cup (1200m).
It was won by the Paddy Cunningham-trained Miss Caitlyn.
Bright Moon Night had earlier lit up Scone trainer Rodney Northam’s day, breaking through for an overdue win in the opening race at Quirindi.
Northam wasn’t at the track but had been told it was a good run.
“He won pretty well,” he said.
“He sat third then went to the outside and finished on too strongly.”
That was pretty much his instructions to jockey Daniel Northey.
The chestnut has been racing well and consistently been in the placings.
He’s been third his last two starts and second the three before that.
“He just needed a bit of luck to crack through,” Northam said.
He said he has nominated him for the Wallabadah Cup but will just wait and see.
He also had six-year-old Myamira running in the TAB Place Multi Plate (1600m) at Randwick yesterday.
The mare ran a brave fourth, coming from last at the turn to be pipped for third. It went to a photo, with Vitello (Gai Waterhouse) getting the nod.
“That was a nice run. I was really happy with the way she found the line,” Northam said.
“There probably just wasn’t enough speed in the race to suit her.
“Her next target is the Belle of the Turf in two weeks’ time,” he said.
“She won it last year after finishing fourth in this race.”
It is a Group 3 race.
Northam expects her to carry a bit more weight than she did last year but is confident with the way she is running.
Today his focus will be closer to home, with six starters in the big Scone meeting.
Fellow Scone trainer Greg Bennett also had Piamimi racing at Randwick in the Sportsyear Benchmark 70 (1400m) and also had to settle for fourth.
