Capricorn Seafood Supplies has made its annual pilgrimage from Coffs Harbour to Tamworth this week armed with a mountain of seafood.
Owner Paul Hynes said despite bringing 1.5 tonnes of prawns, 350 dozen oysters, 140 lobsters and much more, he was confident of going home empty-handed.
“People seem to be moving away from the traditional hams and turkeys on Christmas Day and more towards seafood.”
Mr Hynes, who is trading from the BP car park in Macquarie St, said last year he arrived with 200kg of pre-ordered prawns, but this year that had jumped to 500kg.
“People’s appetite for seafood is huge. I had a man who didn’t think twice about buying three big lobsters for $500.”
