In this double episode we meet Jason and Kirsty, Sibilah and George, Rani and Nahi, and Lee and Jeanette. They all need to sell their houses, and they need to sell them fast! Cue voiceover that makes a domestic house auction sound as full of tension as a Hitchcock movie. Will anyone bid? Will they get the price they want? Will it turn out everyone standing around outside thought they were queuing for the new iPhone?

Woman Raised by Monkeys, SBS One, 8.30pm

Marina Chapman, a woman in her early 60s, has a fantastic tale to tell. She claims that as a young girl in Colombia she was abducted from her rural home and abandoned deep in the jungle. She says she survived there for about five years alone without human contact, her only caregivers a troop of rainforest monkeys. While it's possible Marina is quite mad, could it be she has created a scenario that allowed her to escape a great childhood trauma? Was she one of the children caught up in Colombia's huge civil unrest in the early 1950s, a time when running battles took place in the street, 200,000 people were killed and about 4 million disappeared? Or is she telling the truth? Vanessa, Marina's daughter, has no reason to doubt her mother's story. Marina agrees to undergo investigation by scientists, psychologists and primate experts. She will also travel to Colombia with her daughter for three weeks to see what they can discover about her real family. Is she a female Tarzan or someone who has had to use her imagination to cope with a horrific experience?

Years of Living Dangerously, SBS One, 9.30pm

I love this Emmy Award-winning series and the way a handful of celebrities have used their celebrity to draw attention to climate change. Each of the nine episodes is beautifully shot and well edited, jumping between different climate change issues. Tonight's episode, "Ice and Brimstone", investigates the role of evangelical Christians in the debate – those who believe in creation but not evolution, and those whose Creation Care message  argues that while God created the Earth, we must look after it. Meanwhile, in Greenland, US TV journalist Leslie Stahl is shocked by the rate of glacial ice melt. Her face is one of pure astonishment when she hears her first "ice quake". Yours will be, too.

Below Deck, Arena, 9.30pm

It's coming to the end of a long season aboard Honor, a luxury charter yacht cruising around the Caribbean. But that hardly excuses the behaviour of the young crew. It might be one thing for cranky chef Ben to pass off inferior fish eggs as Beluga caviar, but for the housekeeping girls to hold their guests' knickers up to the camera for ridicule? That's not on. Nor does it do anything to maintain the flimsy illusion that Below Deck is a reality show in any meaningful sense. The producers hired the yacht themselves for the duration of the shoot and replaced its crew with their own telegenic rabble. We must also assume  they supplied their own guests for the crew to mock – after all, the 1 per cent tends not to want TV cameras shoved in its face and its underwear drawer when it's on holiday. In any case, tonight's episode opens with the boat a complete mess after a boozy crew party that resulted in hook-ups and hangovers. The mood is not improved when the new guests turn out to be a gauche bunch that everyone is quick to liken to the cast of Jersey Shore.

Adult emotions bubble over when young Maddie (Lennon Stella) announces that she wants guitar lessons from her biological dad, Deacon (Charles Esten). Delicious, sudsy drama.

Shaft (2000), One, 8.30pm

By the time John Singleton, a director for hire having exhausted his own sense of community and generation to make Boyz n the Hood and Poetic Justice, got round to remaking Gordon Parks' hit 1971 Blaxploitation movie, the notion that middle America would be fascinated by an unyielding African-American anti-hero had become the norm thanks to hip-hop's rise. Samuel L. Jackson, who had the forceful demeanour required but not the carnal edge, was cast as the cool, uncompromising John Shaft, although instead of a private eye he's now an NYPD detective trying to convict a racist scion (Christian Bale) of a young black man's murder. Privilege and power block Shaft's pursuit, and he initially fails to get a waitress (Toni Collette) who witnessed the killing to testify. Despite the racial hatred of Bale's Walter Wade jnr there's little political significance to this action-crime movie, just workmanlike shootouts and a juicy turn from Geoffrey Wright as a loopy Hispanic gang leader.

Little Miss Sunshine (2006), Comedy Movies (pay TV), 6.45pm

Films about dysfunctional American families – at least the nominally middle-class ones – are films about America itself, hinting at national despair and the fragmentation of joint ambition on an intimate scale. In Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris' road movie, a tart, drily funny movie, the Hoover clan drag their neuroses across America so that their young daughter, Olive (Abigail Breslin), can compete in a Toddlers & Tiaras-style pageant. With a suicidal Proust scholar (Steve Carell) and a grandfather who snorts heroin (Alan Arkin), the travelling party must experience their epiphanies and ultimately pull together with Olive's parents, Richard and Sheryl (Greg Kinnear and Toni Collette). It builds and plays out with sly humour and sweet relief, but the picture is so neatly outlined that it never considers the possibility that Americans might need their delusions and that they've become an integral part of their national character.
