The Scone trainer, who has 22 HNWRA wins to his credit and a three-win lead in this season’s HNWRA premiership, landed a victory with Space Invader in the Lenny’s Lodge & Broome Syndicate Benchmark 60 Handicap (2175m).
It was Space Invader’s sixth win from just 17 starts.
“It was a good win but he will go for a spell now,” Griffith said as he headed home from Rosehill where Valcot disappointed.
“I’m a good chance with Nextarule too,” he said as he moved towards the Freeway and a quick trip home.
Unfortunately Nextarule had to settle for a close second to the Gavin Groth-trained 30-1 chance Cool Sports.
With Sue Bigg up, Cool Sports won the Simply Print Anything Class 2 Plate (950m).
The apprentice and Gunnedah trainer reunite again today when Bigg jumps aboard I’m Snazzee in the first race at Tamworth.
Bigg also rides Memphis Mafia for Lesley Jeffriess in the Rising Star Series heat later in the day.
