The site will provide social media savvy residents with the latest information about council initiatives, events and services.
Mayor Col Murray said residents had clearly shown they had a desire for more information about the council’s day-to-day operations.
“Using social media such as Facebook, council will be able to communicate directly with local residents in a very timely and efficient way,” he said.
“Councillors and I have been told by members of the community that they would like to know more about what council is doing to provide the region with the facilities and services they want.
“We see Facebook as a helpful addition to the existing communication methods we use, such as our website and through local media outlets, as well as various educational publications, letters and information brochures.”
The page can be found at www.facebook.com/tamworthregionalcouncil or by typing Tamworth Regional Council into Facebook’s search box.
The council is still encouraging residents with inquiries or concerns to call 6767 5555, email trc@tamworth.nsw.gov.au, or visit its customer service centres at Tamworth, Barraba, Manilla or Nundle.
