THEY painted the town red, literally, but it was all worth it as hundreds of Santas crawled for a good cause through the Tamworth pub scene.

The annual Tamworth Santa Pub Crawl has this year been hailed one of the best yet, as numbers edged closer to 1000 revellers on Friday night.
“We had over 800 register and that is the biggest yet,” Ronald McDonald House organiser Chris Watson said.
Hundreds of Santas in all shapes and sizes, elves, Christmas trees, reindeer as well volunteers from Rotary packed six pubs across the Tamworth CBD to raise funds for Tamworth’s Ronald McDonald House.
And with plenty of donations, the coin count is still going.
“Early indications are that we raised $10,000, which is fantastic,” Mr Watson said.
“We’ve got to wait for all the coins to be counted. It’s a great way to raise funds.”
The event has been running for 12 years or so and has become a staple on the Christmas calendar for those near and far.
“We had a man drive up from Cessnock just for the event, people from Gunnedah, Muswellbrook, Tamworth and Armidale,” Mr Watson said.
“And a lot of people that came home for Christmas a couple of days early, people from Canberra, Melbourne, just so they could join in.”
