Having already secured its spot in the semi-finals, Narrabri has a shot at hosting a semi-final, with the victor tomorrow taking top billing in the western conference.
Cameron has missed the last few weeks, including their last-round win over Gunnedah, after breaking and dislocating his finger.
“I thought it was just dislocated and put it back in,” he said.
But further investigation indicated he’d also broken it.
He’s itching to get back into it, and will return to the crease for Civeo today.
“It’s been a little bit frustrating having to sit and watch the last couple of weeks,” he said.
He’s one of a few changes.
Ryan Meppem and Chris Sargent also come back in.
Sargent was away while Meppem was tied up with junior duties.
They’ll further strengthen them.
“It’s up there with one of the better sides we’ve had for the last few years,” Cameron said.
He said it was a big opportunity for them to host a semi-final.
“Even being thought about at the end of the year has been a bit of a comedy for us,” he said.
It’s been a while since they’ve been there at the business end.
They are a bit skinny for pace, with Dylan Segundo and Sapan Jariwala their only frontline quicks, but do have plenty of bowling options and will again be well-served by their spinners.
“We’ve got a pretty long batting line-up,” Cameron said.
“We thought we’ve got some pretty good spin options we might as well utilise them and pick them all.”
Meppem, Sargent and Jake Brayshaw will handle the spin.
Meppem has been in great form for Golf Club.
He is the leading wicket-taker in the competition and returned four-wicket hauls four of his last five games. The other he finished with six.
Jariwala has also been bowling well.
Cameron got a good look at him in the first game. He beat him first ball.
“He’s got a bit of aggression about him, which is really good,” he said.
Another in good form is Cameron’s club opening partner Nick Smart.
“Nick’s in the form of his life,” he said.
“He’s always had that ability.”
Now he’s a big stronger he’s getting the reward for that ability.
They do bat pretty well down to 11, with Segundo scoring runs for Tatts.
“We haven’t been blessed with this type of batting for a while,” Cameron said.
He said the goal would be to bat the 50 overs out.
“The length we bat, I’d be disappointed if we don’t bat the 50 out,” he said.
