THE Tamworth Dressage Club hosted its annual championships at its Moonbi base on the weekend.
The weekend saw a full program from preliminary to grand prix run and the great weather and excellent riding conditions saw some outstanding results from horse rider combinations at another successful championships for the club.
Riders from clubs around the region including Moree, Inverell, Guyra and Armidale, and as far away as Newcastle made the trip to compete with many using the championships as a warm-up to this weekend’s State Championships in Sydney.
Tamworth has hosted those previously and will also hold the championships next year.
Many of the club’s members did well on the weekend, coming away with Champion ribbons at their respective levels.
Lew Hyson and Jelco were the preliminary level champion from Rosie Sutherland and Gwandalan Snowman.
Fairlie Gidley-Baird on The Illusionist was the novice champion ahead of Sue Finn on Leicestershire, while Robyn Walsh took out the elementary competition riding Fougere Royale, with Alissia Dunn and CP Empress the reserve
champions.
Dunn had a good weekend, also winning the champion and reserve champion pony with HP Pzazz and Stanhope Quatio.
Gillian Green was another multiple ribbon winner.
She was champion on medium level on Prince of Pleasure, and reserve in advanced on the same horse.
Rachel Cairns and Southern Cross Aquilla won that, while Louise Allen (Menaka Park Archie) was reserve medium champion.
The FEI champion combination was Robyne Smith and KS Beauchamp from Nancy Stewart and Romantic.
