The annual Cultural Day was celebrated by the school’s Year 7 students, who have been examining a variety of other countries this year as part of their cultural studies unit.
France, Italy, Japan and Latin America were all on the menu, students spending the day involved in craft activities reflecting the different nationalities and then hitting the kitchen for a cross-cultural cook-up.
Quiche, hot dogs with a Latin American flavour, sushi and Italy’s favourite dessert, tiramisu, were all prepared and then devoured.
French teacher Erin Stewart said the students had loved the whole experience, looking forward to taking recipes home to try out on their families and enjoying the chance to flex their artistic skills.
It was also an opportunity to give some serious thought to which language they would choose to study in Year 8.
