Presenter Monique Wright is in Gunnedah today, while fellow presenter Andrew O’Keefe will join her and about 20 Salvation Army volunteers for the Salvos’ Christmas Hope Mission tomorrow.
Wright said she was looking forward to visiting Gunnedah.
“Lots of people have been doing it tough in the area and we are delighted to be helping in whatever small way we can,” she said.
“The Salvos are experts at getting things done, so we will be careful not to get in the way and to ask for the most basic of tasks to help, as I’m pretty sure Andrew and I will get it wrong. In our planning, everyone from Gunnedah has been so lovely and welcoming. We haven’t even arrived yet and we have been shown such warm hospitality. I can’t wait to meet them in person.”
Wright will visit a farming family and spend about three hours helping with tasks such as fixing fences and weeding.
She is also due to visit GS Kidd School, have lunch at Hope House and join an appreciation dinner for community volunteers.
The two presenters will team up tomorrow to visit two farming families to help with farm tasks.
The visit was prompted by the Salvation Army, which is helping out families around Gunnedah who have been hit by the drought and economic hardship.
