Tamworth’s Jade Barlow came up with the concept for Zombie Dinosaur, and fellow local Luke Oldknow is shooting the film, which he, Ms Barlow and Matthew Turner wrote.
Ms Barlow said she was a “huge horror fan”.
“I love zombies and I love dinosaurs and I thought, ‘Why hasn’t anyone made a zombie dinosaur movie?’” she said.
“I want to pay homage to 1970s horror, with splatters of blood, nudity and lots of action.”
Shooting began near Tamworth at the weekend, with actors Jonathan Lane and Bianca Bradey offering their time for the project.
Make-up is being handled by artist Melissa Atkins.
Ms Bradey said the movie was going to be beautiful and, while the theme was “kitschy”, the film was serious.
Mr Lane said it was the most fun he’d had on a project, having worked with Mr Oldknow previously.
“Where else do I get to fly to Tamworth, kill my wife, have a threesome and get eaten by a dinosaur?” he said.
The film is slated for release early next year.
