Registrations have now opened for the Toyota LandCruiser Country Music Busking Championships 2015, one of the highlights of January’s country music festival. The championships are expected to attract up to 600 entrants, who will entertain the thousands of locals and visitors making their way up and down Peel St. There’s a serious side to the entertainment, too, with all buskers going into the running for the crown of Country Music Busking Champion. There are awards for Best Country, Best Non-Country and People’s Choice, and all finalists will get the chance to show off their talents on the “big stage” in Toyota Park for the Best of the Buskers Concert on Saturday, January 24.
Prizes will be awarded and the overall champion announced.
“The busking championships continue to grow as one of the most exciting parts of the Toyota Country Music Festival Tamworth,” festival director John Sommerlad said.
“It’s the perfect launch pad for aspiring country music stars or for those who just want to perform at Australia’s largest music festival. The buskers always generate a fantastic response and really are one of the cornerstones of the festival, helping to build the wonderful atmosphere that our event celebrates each year.”
