The four-year-old daughter of Tinted Cloud is trained at Williamtown by Gerald “Tiger” Markey.
“Tiger’s done a great job with her,” Hedges said.
“She got a nice easy second quarter.
“She wanted to hang out down the back and look around but I got her going again and she finished well.
“She’s been a handful but Tiger has done well.”
The retired Markey, who lives at Raymond Terrace, gave her her 21st start yesterday.
She had won her first race at Newcastle back in January.
“I’ve nearly sacked her twice,” Markey said
“She’s been a handful.”
He has four pacers in work.
Hedges then won the last race of the day for Narrabri trainer Peter Shepherdson, surging home with Rockstar Ruler.
Craig Clegg’s Machofdistinction had led and looked to have beaten six-year-old Narrabri entire Rockstar Ruler off twice but the son of Art Major found a third effort to blow past his Kootingal-trained opponent.
It was a good day for the Weidemann sisters, Julie and Lola, who made the long trek again from Clifton (near Toowoomba) to win with Pepperall and Mister Elegant.
Ride On A Rainbow also won for Tamworth trainer Ernie Mabbott with driver Anthony Varga in the gig.
Varga had used up Ride On A Rainbow early to lead and was headed by the Tom Ison-driven Alyeska Dream in the straight for a few strides.
“I was a little bit worried,” Varga said.
“But I knew Spud’s horse has only got a 200m sprint.”
Ride On A Rainbow fought back to win by 2.75m.
Verning agreed with a rueful grin about the short sharp sprint.
o Another Dreamer arrived in the last few bounds to snare a win yesterday.
The Cameron Davies- trained-and-driven five-year-old gelding claimed a half head win from the Lola Weidemann-driven Itaintrocketscience in the Live Or Die @ Nevele R Competitive Stakes (1609m).
Tamworth Harness Racing Club director Robert Betts and his father, Brian Betts, bred and race the son of Dream Away.
Another Dreamer has now won five of his 31 starts and more might be on the way, Davies said.
“We’ve only had him the five starts,” Davies said.
“He’s been going all right –he keeps on improving.”
Davies has three horses in work for the Betts combination and also posted a win for the locals with Halfway Holme.
The Betts almost made it a double when Alyeska Dream, trained by Verning, just went under to Ride On A Rainbow.
