Council water sustainability officer Ian Lobban said where people with disabilities or older people couldn't lift buckets, they could get exemptions.
The exemptions allow for them to use a hand held hose for 15minutes on Wednesdays and Sundays but they have to apply to the council.
Older people who think they qualify, need to go to a council office and ask about how they go about applying.
It's not the first time that the elderly have had such an option. When Tamworth was last plunged into Level 3 back in December 2006, many older residents sought and were given the exemption. It didn't last long though, because the city was catapulted then into Level 4 restrictions two months later when even buckets were banned.
