Team franchisee James Baker was stocking up the water bottles and adding plenty of ice to the esky last Friday.
“That’s all they’re getting today,” Baker joked.
He also cooks a pretty handy chicken burger, which might also be part of the winning formula which saw Steggles win the “food fight” at Dick Edwards Oval by seven wickets.
After restricting McDonald’s to 7-130, the Steggleators then knocked up 3-131 in just 16 overs, reaching their victory target with four overs to spare.
Pat Bryant (1-24), Julian McGovern (1-27), Brock Ridgewell (2-12) and Will Chesterfield (3-24) were the bowling stars for Steggles but it was Troy Sands who pumped up the Steggles run chase.
The Gunnedah allrounder smacked 55 from just 35 balls.
He and opening bat Campbell Baker (14) put on 70 to give the side a great start.
Ben Middlebrook (22 off 12) and Mitch Swain (20 off 16) then brought the side galloping home.
It enabled Steggles to join the TPW Tigers at the top of the T20 table after three rounds.
They play Halpin’s Plumbing Hurricanes for the second time at Riverside 2 tomorrow night.
After rolling the Hurricanes for just 50 in the first round, they might be favourites again against the Hurricanes, who have lost allrounder Shaun Stevenson.
Halpo might have plumbed some secrets of his own to beef up his plumbing Hurricanes.
TABLE: TPW Tigers 12 (1.1096), Steggles 12 (.845), McDonalds 6 (-.5738), Halpin’s Plumbing 6 (-.8788).
