Once a month the ladies host the men for a morning on the green and a lunch, this month getting enough participants to play a few matches of mixed triples.
Ladies president Gwen Davidson says it is just a nice day out on the greens.
“Comp bowls are over for the year,” Davidson said.
“This is a nice opportunity to get together and play a little bowls.
“It is just a social game.”
With most of the CNDBA club competitions are now complete for the year, it leaves a few novelty events such as the Kootingal Bowling Club’s member-only Ham and Turkey Day (December 13) and this Saturday night’s presentation night.
North Tamworth Bowling Club is conducting an inter club 2 bowl alternating triples on Sunday. It is open to all.
The Tamworth City women are having a Christmas Dress Up Fun bowls morning on Thursday, December 4 while the Tamworth City December Hams Triples (December 10) is full.
The South Tamworth Club will also host the CNDBA juniors for the next three Saturday mornings with the CNDBA Juniors presentation at the club on Saturday, December 13 from 9.30am.
South will also host the CNDBA Bowler of the Year Award presentation on Sunday, December 7.
The function is linked in with its own club presentations from 3pm.
2014 BOTYA winner Nick Golledge will receive not only the winner’s cheque but also the Bob Fowler Medal, a new medal struck by the CNDBA in honour of one of Tamworth’s best lawn bowlers.
Last year’s BOTYA winner, Chris Herden, will also receive a Bob Fowler Medal but unfortunately he won’t be able to attend the presentation ceremony as he’s away playing for the State.
BOTYA organiser Phil Johnson said this year’s BOTYA was well received and appeared certain to go ahead again next year.
“The response we received from the clubs was pretty good and it looks like they are all keen to go again,” Johnson said.
He said the “State events” would head the start to the 2015 BOTYA early next year.
