A small fire took hold at about 10.45am in the shed on a property off King George V Ave.
Fire and Rescue NSW crews found the shed well alight on arrival.
Fears were held regarding the threat to a nearby petrol bowser and flammable liquids inside a neighbouring shed .
About 25 firefighters worked to protect the bowser and nearby shed and managed to bring the blaze under control after four hours of fire fighting.
The residents, as well as a mare and its foal, were evacuated as a precaution but allowed back home once it was deemed safe.
Late yesterday, firefighters were using machinery to pull apart the shed and the hay to extinguish smouldering hot spots.
