2.15pm: The Oxley Highway is still closed after a truck incident east of Gunnedah this morning. Road diversions are in place.
12.15pm: The Oxley Highway remains closed after a truck crashed and caught fire east of Gunnedah this morning.
About 8.30am (Friday 14 November 2014), the refrigerated vehicle was travelling west when it struck a guard rail on the Mooki Bridge and the load of food stuffs caught fire.
The driver escaped injury.
The highway is closed in both directions and will remain so for some time.
Light vehicles are advised to use the Kamilaroi Highway and then Abouds Road (Gap Road) to Werris Creek and then Werris Creek Road to Tamworth.
Heavy vehicles should use the Kamilaroi Highway to Quirindi and then Werris Creek Road to Tamworth.
Motorists are advised to allow additional travel time.
Emergency services remain at the accident site.

10:40am: Gunnedah Police have said the male driver of the truck escaped the vehicle without injury.
Inspector Paul Johnston said the semi-trailer carrying fresh food and vegetables was travelling to Gunnedah when the truck mounted the guard of the bridge and careered back into the roadway.
Inspector Johnston said there were no other vehicles on the bridge at the time.
The accident happened just before 8.30am and all emergency services were called to the scene.
Inspector Johnston said the truck was "fully engulfed" by the flames.
He said diversions were in place and the highway was likely to be closed for some hours.
10.37am: The Oxley Highway remains closed in both directions about one kilometre east of Gunnedah following the truck accident this morning.
Diversions have now been put in place for motorists travelling between Tamworth and Gunnedah.
Light vehicles are advised to use the Kamilaroi Highway and then Abouds Road (Gap Road) to Werris Creek and then Werris Creek Road to Tamworth.
Heavy vehicles should use the Kamilaroi Highway to Quirindi and then Werris Creek Road to Tamworth. Motorists are advised to allow additional travel time.

10.20am: Firefighters are still on scene cleaning up the site of this morning's truck accident.
A Kenworth prime mover and single trailer carrying produce and refrigerated goods has been completely destroyed in a fire.
Fire and Rescue NSW Gunnedah crews responded to the scene to find the whole truck engulfed by flames and worked quickly to extinguish the blaze within 30 minutes.
Firefighters were required to wear breathing apparatus and used special foam suppressant to douse the flames.
A number of RFS crews assisted with the efforts and council provided bulk water supplies to firefighters.
Fire and Rescue NSW Gunnedah Deputy Captain Glenn Swift said it will still be a number of hours before the road is open.
He thanked NSW Ambulance for their prompt response in accounting for everyone's safety in the incident.

9.20am: Paramedics have confirmed no one has been injured in the accident.
There have been reports by nearby residents of earlier explosions, but the fire is now believed to be under control.

9am: A truck accident has closed the Oxley Highway in both directions between Gunnedah and Tamworth.
Motorists are advised to delay their journey.
Emergency services are on site about 1km east of Gunnedah.
There is no forecast as to when the highway will re-open.
