NSW Blues and Cronulla captain Paul Gallen has apologised for his "unacceptable" social media attack on the NRL management.
Gallen tweeted his displeasure early on Thursday morning that Cronulla had sacked chief executive Steve Noyce, a move which left the club without a coach or boss.
"Steve Noice (sic) actually cared about players from cronulla's feelings," Gallen wrote. "Couldn't say that about any other c--- from Nrl."
Gallen deleted the message after several social media users urged him to do so.
He said sorry in an Instagram post on Friday afternoon.
"I would like to apologise to anyone who I offended in my tweet yesterday and to anyone who took offence to the language I used. I realise in the position I'm in this was unacceptable. Gal."
The Sharks skipper has missed the Four Nations tournament, suspended for his involvement in the doping program at Cronulla.
In a deal with the Australian Sports Anti-Doping Authority, he accepted a year-long back-dated suspension which expires on November 23.
Gallen is expected to face the Cronulla board next week to explain himself.
