Five ambulances, along with police and firefighters were called to Manilla Rd at Hallsville, where a Holden Astra struck a power pole just before 7am. Rescue crews worked painstakingly for at least an hour-and-a-half to free the 41-year-old Attunga woman who was trapped in the mangled wreckage.
She was freed from the vehicle by 8.30am and taken to Tamworth hospital for treatment and was in a serious but stable condition late yesterday.
Paramedics said the woman sustained various injuries, including a serious arm injury.
The road was blocked for about two hours as the wreckage was cleared.
Oxley Local Area Command duty officer,Inspector Matt French told The Leader investigations into the cause of the crash were still continuing late yesterday.
He said police had spoken to a number of people at the scene but urged witnesses who had not been in contact with police to come forward.
