Gunnedah's Greg Sams is no stranger to helping the military, as he's a former paratrooper with 3RAR and supported the fundraising group on their trek from Brisbane to Canberra.
Mr Sams also organised the Carry the Load stretcher carry in Gunnedah last month to aid the Wandering Warriors.
The walkers, who passed through Tamworth and the region on their trek, were greeted by the Prime7 Sunrise weather girl Edwina Bartholomew in Canberra before their final walk to the Australian War Memorial (AWM).
She accompanied them to the AWM where they met with Corporal Ben Roberts-Smith MG VC and Dr Brendan Nelson, the director of the AWM.
At the memorial, the Wandering Warriors, many of them former SAS members, watched along with former and current SAS members and families as the first plaque was dedicated to the regiment.
There was a dinner in the evening to mark the end of the walk, with about 100 invited guests, including Corporal Roberts-Smith and other dignitaries .
Mr Sams handed over a further $3000 to the charity, raised after the stretcher carry.
Wandering Warriors executive officer Quentin Masson said they were "pushing six figures" raised this year, with more to come from the walk.
He said the finish at the Australian War Memorial was an emotional and fitting tribute to the SAS members.
"We were greeted by a throng of soldiers, members of the association and current and former members of the SAS," he said.
"We had members from the original company days (of the SAS), through to current and serving members, to dedicate the plaque in the war memorial gardens. It was a timely reminder of all those who have sacrificed themselves in the regiment's history in operations and training and quite an emotional day. It was great to finally get to the end."
Prime Minister Tony Abbott also met with the warriors after the plaque dedication to celebrate the end of the mega challenge.
