The function at Cricket House will see the four captains select their sides from the pool of nominations.
This year’s competition will see a new franchise come in and a couple of new skippers when it commences on November 7.
North Tamworth’s English recruit Adam Mansfield will lead defending champions McDonald’s while Matt Everett will take charge for Halpins.
Ben Middlebrook will captain Steggles, and Adam Jones the new boys – TPW (Tamworth Plaster Works) Tigers.
The selection process will get underway at 6.30pm and will be a good chance for the players to meet the franchise owners.
The TDCA is also putting on a barbecue.
Meanwhile, Tamworth’s Under 12 Blue and Gold teams prepared for their Hunter Valley and Northern Inland junior competitions with a 30 over-a-side trial at Riverside 3 on Sunday.
Damien Henry is coaching the Golds who will play Armidale in their opening game of the Northern Inland Cricket Council Junior Under 12 competition.
Bede Maher and Peter Mead are in charge of the Tamworth Blues Under 12s who will play in the Hunter Valley Junior Cricket Association Under 12 competition.
“We have a tough game first up against Maitland on Sunday,” Maher said yesterday.
“We’re looking forward to it though.
“We had a good trial on Sunday. Both teams played well.”
The Tamworth Blues’ top order batting will be strong, with Lachlan Wesierski (17) and Luke Maher (17) both impressive along with Jess Davidson, Joey Mead and Ben Wallace, who hit some scorching cover drives.
“They all batted well on a placid wicket but our bowlers were very good – that’s where our strength lies,” Bede Maher said.
“We’ve got a great little bowling attack.
“Joey Mead and Joshua Attard opened the bowling and had hardly a run scored off them.”
