Major sponsors – Single Builders, Burke & Smyth Real Estate & Travelworld – enabled the South ladies to raise $5500 in prizemoney, $2000 of which went to the winning fours team from North Tamworth – Linda O’Reilly, Carol McCaskill, Carlyn Clarke and Margaret Nagel .
They finished the five-game weekend with four wins and a plus 31 margin, edging out the Forster Tuncurry team of Wendy Kirby, J. Scott, Paula Body and Judy Mangan who had four wins and a plus 26.
Just two shots away in third after a four win +24 weekend was the South Tamworth team of Carol Murray, Tracy Morris, Marlene Brosie and Pat Fletcher.
Another three shots away in fourth was the combined Bathurst/Gulgong side of Helen Waddell, Kristy Waddell, Colleen Ross and Colleen Ryan.
The Waddells were mother and daughter while the pair of Colleens were mother-in-law and daughter-in-law, ladies club president Christine Myers said.
“We had great weather for the weekend,” Myers said.
“We had players from all over – from Woolgoolga, Armidale, Foster-Tuncurry, Gulgong and Park Beach (Coffs Harbour).
“We had our first carnival last year and this was another success.
“Everyone said it was a great carnival and that they are all coming back.”
22 teams took part, with the best performed team in each of the five rounds winning $100 as well.
