The Central North-designated tournament seeing the players roll three games on Sunday with the winners being decided on points rather than a finals series.
West Tamworth’s Charlie Schumacher, John Coulton and Paul D’Elboux took the trophy home with a very good last game after being tied with the home team of Paul Eggers, Ian Westbrook and Phil O’Reilly going into the final match.
Club president Dick Russell said that O’Reilly and his side had been in top form on Sunday morning.
“They beat another Norths team by about 20 shots,” Russell said.
“It is a good day coming towards to the end of the season.”
Norths, like most other clubs, are on the lookout for new bowlers, younger bowler, with a new initiative being rolled out by Bowls Australia to do just that.
In November Jack Attack will begin, and is a style of game that has been called Twenty20 for bowls.
“We are looking to get bowlers form ages 30-50 into the club,” Russell said.
“We want the blokes that have just finished or retired playing footy and cricket and those games and are looking for something else to play.”
“The games are only an hour long and easy to play.
“It is a great initiative.”
