Ms Crompton, who has managed McHappy Day activities across Tamworth for the past eight years, saw first hand the incredible role Ronald McDonald House plays in helping desperate families when her nephew Zachary Whetton fell critically ill.
Since that day, she has vowed to support the “home away from home” any way she can.
That support will continue today when Ms Crompton co-ordinates McHappy Day at Tamworth’s three McDonald’s stores. As part of the annual event, $2 from every Big Mac sold goes directly to Ronald McDonald House.
Residents can also buy a Helping Hand for $1 from the store.
“My family has been touched by Ronald McDonald House and that’s why I continue to support it,” Ms Crompton said.
“It’s such an important facility; families need to be together and the house allows that.”
During this year’s event, McDonald’s East will have a superhero theme, South a jungle theme and West a Dr Seuss theme.
Craft corners, raffles, colouring-in competition, face painting and even a karaoke machine will feature across the stores.
Local personalities working behind the counter in Tamworth include Tamworth MP Kevin Anderson, country music identity Lawrie Minson, JT from 92.9FM, Cr Mark Rodda, aspiring country music artist Amy Pain and many more.
