North and North West Showjumping Club ran the event and club president Allan McCusker was thrilled with its success.
“Many riders have let us know that it was one of the best events they had been to all year.
“They can’t wait to come back in 2015.
“We are looking into the possibility of hosting a World Cup Qualifier here in too.
“The future of show jumping in the area is looking very promising.”
The event spanned three days, three rings, had over 1000 rounds of show jumping, 200 riders, 300 horses and more than $20 000 in prize money plus rugs, ribbons and prizes was given out.
The indoor arena saw plenty of the action on Friday with the elite riders out for the Manuka Chaff Gold Tour Round 1 on Friday afternoon.
Sydney 2000 Olympian Ron Easey from Quipolly was the winner of the impressive line up riding Made U Look.
Coming back to the competition arena after a serious arm injury, Easey managed to come in just ahead of Jess Brown, daughter of Olympian Rod Brown, riding Equus Echo.
In third place was another young rider making her mark in the senior ranks, Sarah McMillan aboard Belcam Armada.
Super Junior, Jake Hunter just back from representing Australia at the Youth Olympics placed fourth on Midnight Rock and Rod McQueen was fifth on ASB Vienna.
The last class in the indoor on Friday evening was the exciting Hawkk Facilities Indoor Speed Championships.
This fast class had the crowds cheering the riders on, with each competitor shaving more and more off their turns.
Easey, renowned for his fast riding, was keen to make it two in a row, but the rails didn’t favour him with one falling for each of his horses.
Cade Hunter gave the old boys a run for their money, but experience paid off with North North West Show Jumping Club President Allan McCusker posting the fastest time onboard WF Lightfoot to win the championship class.
Second place went to Andrew Inglis, third and fourth to Easey and fifth to Hunter.
Saturday night was spectacular. Dinner guests and spectators were enthralled with the Driving Master class by five time world champion Boyd Excel.
Following this 15 elite Australian show jumpers entered the arena for the final of the Manuka Chaff Gold Class.
The Gavin Chester Track was massive featuring two doubles in a row and a triple line into the finish.
Three riders were clear in the first round, Brown from Kulnura in NSW, winner of the Tamworth Winter Grand Prix in July, with both her rides and Amanda Madigan from Glossodia with Diamond B Vigo.
The lowest penalties joined the girls in the second round and Sam Buchanan showed the track could be jumped clear early on.
Brown and Equus Echo were clear in a ripping time of 55.44 seconds, making time critical for Madigan’s round.
Vigo stepped up and answered the call for tight turns and a fast run to the last giving Madigan the victory by just 0.20 seconds.
Brown was second and third followed by another young female rider with impressive riding ability, Brooke Campbell on Copabella Cadiz.
Local Young Rider James Hetherington saved some pride for the men finishing in fifth with Jaybee Caribus.
Sunday’s finals again had the crowds on the edge of their seats.
Hunter, from Singleton, a bronze medallist in the recent Youth Olympics held in China, was the winner of the Austbroker NTIB Junior final with LH Warsaw.
He narrowly beat local rider Sophia Carlon from Arding, NSW on It’s Jealousy.
Hunter’s little brother Cade finished in third place with Kelstar.
Harley Morris collected the Trailrace Young Rider Final with her horse Miss money Penny ahead of Sarah McMillan on Colourbond. Jake Hunter was third with La Laina.
Sarah McMillan from Yarramalong on the Central Coast showed the senior riders how it should be done with a victory in the Carmyle Vet Services Silver Tour Final.
She beat James Mooney and JB Evolution by nearly 2 seconds in the jump off. Nic Taliana and Ambrose were third.
Mooney, from Kulnura, NSW regained some glory with a victory in the Hunted Gourmet Bronze Tour aboard Greengrove Dilandra.
Atlanta Olympian David Cooper based in Millers Forest, NSW took out second and third with his up and coming new team of horses.
The event was run in conjunction with a Carriage Driving Event, making it an action packed weekend for spectators and competitors alike.
