While the NTBC has $1650 in prizemoney for this Sunday’s triples, $750 for the winners, South distributed $3000.
The STBC’s Spring Pairs was run on separate days too, Saturday’s first day a separate competition to Sunday.
Stewart Bayliss and Chris Herden combined to win the $600 winners’ purse on the Saturday from Scott Thorning and CNDBA Bowler of the Year, Nick Golledge.
Phil Johnson, who organised the CNDBA’s Bowler of the Year, paired with Kootingal’s Craig O’Toole to win Sunday’s Spring Pairs from Herden and Bayliss with Les Goodchild and Kim Greentree third.
“It’s been a great weekend for us,” said STBC president Scott Sweeney of a tournament sponsored by Tooheys, BCiB, Aristorcrat and the STBC.
“We had six teams from Putney here as well. They’ve been coming the last three years and always have a good time.”
He said the two-day format worked well and was already planning next year.
The STBC will also host the CNDBA Bowler of the Year Awards on Sunday, December 7. That will be in conjunction with the STBC club awards and also include the Bob Fowler Medal.
The CNDBA has struck that medal to be presented to the bowler of the year as well as a $1200 cash prize and shirt.
Nick Golledge wins that award after an outstanding year.
He beat last year’s winner Chris Herden, who will also receive a retrospective Bob Fowler Medal for winning last year’s reconstituted BOTY Award.
Kootingal’s Graham Harriott and Kim Greentree finished third and fourth to the South Tamworth clubmates.
