Luke won APRA/AMCOS Country Music Single of the Year and Capital News Male Vocalist of the Year for Three Brothers (The Great War), and his fabulous Sing You Up took out Australian Independent Album of the Year.
Tamworth’s own Aleyce Simmonds’ star shone brightly as she was recognised with the award for Capital News Female Vocalist of the Year (Believe).
Following up on previous accolades, including the Alt Country Album of the Year Golden Guitar, Lachlan Bryan and The Wildes were awarded Group/Duo award for Black Coffee. It was a proud moment for Dean Perrett when he claimed Heritage Track of the Year for I’m The Land.
Although he’s been around for a few years now, Damian Howard, who wasn’t able to attend, was named CRS Australian Independent Rising Star Male (Once In A While) in his absence, while the female award recipient was Kate Cook with her song of female empowerment, Give The Girl A Spanner.
The old Sheik from Scrubby Creek was a very happy man to receive the Barry Thornton Memorial Award from festival/awards organiser John Arnold.
My good friend Flash (Robyn McIntosh) was in fine form on the night, capturing all those magic moments for Country Music Notes readers.
THE Australian Country Music Hall of Fame invites you to Country in the Village on Monday, October 20, from 6.30pm at the Lifestyle Village Hall, Warral Rd, West
Tamworth.
This month’s host is Bruce O’Hara, who will introduce special guest artist for October, Bruce McCumstie, along with other local artists.
Bruce (O’Hara) might even sing a song or two if you twist his arm. Request something from his latest album and I’m sure he’ll oblige.
All country music artists and fans are welcome to attend this event, held the third Monday each month.
Entry is just $5, which includes tea or coffee and a light supper.
All funds raised are directed to the Australian Country Music Hall of Fame. It’s a great night of casual entertainment for the whole family.
Phone 0403 322 472 if you’d like some more details.
