Police appeal for information over Armidale sexual assault

Police are appealing for information from the public after a sexual assault in Armidale last month.

At about 1am Sunday July 22 this year, a 19-year-old woman was walking alone in Meredith Street near her residence when she was taken into nearby bushland by two males.

She was assaulted and sexually assaulted by one of the males before she managed to run from the area.

She sought medical attention a few days later regarding difficulty breathing where it was discovered her ribs were broken.

Yesterday the 19-year-old reported the assault to Armidale Police Station who launched an investigation into the incident.

The two males have been described to police as Caucasian in appearance, about 20 years old with a solid build. One of the men was wearing blue jeans and the other was wearing black denim shorts.

Investigations are continuing and anyone with any information that could assist police is urged to contact Armidale Detectives or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
