One year on, British celebrity chef and friend Jamie Oliver has paid tribute to the young "Aussie cook", who was a senior chef in his first London restaurant.
His latest recipe book, titled Jamie's Comfort Food 100 ultimate recipes to treat the ones you love, pays homage to his dear friend Hayley, her husband John and daughter Olive, in a special dedication inside the front cover.
Hayley was known among friends and family to go hand-in-hand with food, so it was only fitting her mentor dedicated his latest book to her, according to a friend who wrote on the Hayley's Hope Facebook page.
In 2003 Hayley was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma, on her return to Australia after working for Jamie.
She was preparing to return to the UK under sponsorship from Jamie when she received the shock diagnosis.
Hayley battled for the next 10 years, with ups and downs, including a failed stem cell transplant in 2011 and again in 2013.
Hayley sadly lost her battle on September 24, 2013, leaving behind her husband John, and daughter Olive.
