They might not be in the number one NSW side, the NSW Waratahs, but their NSW Blues have the potential to give the other teams, including the Waratahs, a huge fright.
At least that’s the plan the three young smiling assassins had at the Tamworth Hockey Complex on Tuesday afternoon. Twelve-year-old Lachlan is the smallest of the three. He’s been playing hockey for six years and turns out with the Workies club.
A Year 6 student at Timbumburi he’s about to enjoy his first national title.
Thirteen-year-old Toby Whitten, a Year 7 student at Tamworth High is something of an old hand at the representative stuff.
“I played in this team last year as well as making the State PSSA team twice,” tall Toby told The Leader.
“We went to Adelaide, Canberra and Coffs Harbour.”
The best he’s done is finish second and hopes his midfield/defender role will help the Blues to a big finish.
Calvin Farmilo is 12 and attends McCarthy Catholic College where he is in Year 7. He’s also played for the NSW PSSA side which finished second in Canberra last year.
