The Miss Country Girl Australia competition will make a stunning entrance at Tamworth Shoppingworld on October 9 and 11.
But the cattiness typical of modelling competitions is thankfully absent from this catwalk, 22-year-old entrant Jaymee Inwood said.
“You just wear your own clothes, do your own hair and make up,” she said.
“It’s about not wearing so much make up, looking as natural as you can and trying not to look too fake.”
She said a competition like Miss Country Girl Australia was important in celebrating a home-grown brand of beauty and that it showed locals a career in modelling was not out of reach for regional women.
“A lot of girls don’t know how to get into the industry unless they know someone,” she said.
There are junior, senior and swimwear categories, as well as the “career girl” event, for women who are fascinated by the behind-the-scenes aspect of the fashion industry.
At the regional heats on October 9 and 11, a winner will be selected by a panel of judges to progress to the next tier of the competition.
