Securing two major awards at the event was Tamworth firm Forsyths Chartered Accountants, which won gongs for Employer of Choice and Excellence in Business.
All regional winners will progress to the state finals on November 28 at Darling Harbour in Sydney, hoping to emulate the previous success of Andrew Mahony’s Rural Fit, which won local, regional and state awards last year.
Rob Taber of New England Solar Power, renowned throughout the region for his business prowess, backed up his Armidale Chamber award as Business Leader by taking out his second accolade as Business Leader (aged 35 plus).
Tamworth’s Samantha Crebert of ATAC (Australian Training and Consulting), and Julie Chandler of Mosaic Productions, Tamworth, were presented with Young Business Executive (aged 18-35) and Young Entrepreneur (aged 18-35) respectively.
Tamworth’s 360 Fitness Club, which scooped the pool at the recent Tamworth Business Chamber Awards, backed up that treble with the Excellence in Innovation award.
ImagineMORE Coaching from Tamworth secured Excellence in Business Ethics, and Armidale-based credit union New England Mutual took out the Excellence in Sustainability award.
Judges could not split the winners of Excellence in Small Business, choosing to equally honour Tamworth’s East West Enviroag and high-flying Armidale firm Superair, which was earlier this month named the Armidale Chamber Business Awards’ Business of the Year.
Before several of his regional peers, Tamworth Business Chamber president Tim Coates collected the award for Local Chamber of Commerce.
NSW Business Chamber regional manager Kellon Beard said the sellout event, held at Narrabri’s Crossing Theatre, was a great success.
“We had just over 100 people there and the food and company was excellent,” Mr Beard said.
“The region’s politicians and chambers were well represented, with the members for Barwon and Gwydir, Kevin Humphries and Mark Coulton, in attendance.
“We also were fortunate to have Narrabri mayor Conrad Bolton, and Russell Stewart, the Narrabri Chamber president, there along with Tim Coates, who of course is also president of the regional council on the NSW Business Chamber.
“The standard of businesses was extremely high, making it difficult for our judges to come up with just one winner.
“I know all winners from that event will do this region proud when they go on to the state finals in Sydney.”
