SKIPPERING North Tamworth Bears to an Under 18 Group 4 premiership was just the finish to a schoolboy career for big prop Brad Johnston.

The mobile front-rower was one of the stars for the side as it edged out a gallant Narrabri 26-18 at Jack Woolaston two Sundays back.
It came a week after Johnston and a number of his Bear teammates had played and won the University Shield at Shark Park in Sydney.
“It’s been a great year,” Johnston said after the Group 4 junior success.
“A great way to go out.
“It’s the last game for a number of us.
“Five or six of us have played together all the way through too.
“Winning the Uni Shield was great.
“As was winning the Group 4 premiership and making the quarter-finals of the Schoolboy Cup.”
With fellow prop Blake Withers, Johnston made plenty of ground, enabling backrowers Zac Faulkner, Charlie Altus and Jack Ticehurst to make inroads as well.
Tom Say was named man of the match after scoring one try, setting up another for fullback Trent Eather and also producing a bomb for Eather to mark and score off.
Say also converted four of the five tries.
He’s one of the Farrer players who will be staying on for the school side and the Bear Under 18s next year.
Tye Barry and Corey Manicaros return to the Farrer and Bears sides next season after they missed the Group 4 grand final when selected to tour New Zealand with the NSW CHS Development squad.
For Johnston though, Sydney beckons.
That’s after his HSC though for a 2015 where he heads down to university and, hopefully, an NRL club.
