NATHAN Lyon usually sends down a few curly deliveries but it was the Australian Test and one day spinner who was on the receiving end of some testing deliveries at the John Kilborn Cricket Complex, at Farrer yesterday.

Lyon, 26, is flying out to Dubai with the Australian Test and One Day squads on Sunday for a two Test and limited overs series against Pakistan but he didn’t mind admitting a couple of yesterday’s young players at his brother’s Lyon Cricket camp in Tamworth almost had him stumped.
“It was good fun,” the Test spinner from Young said.
“The Q and A session was interesting. Very enjoyable. A few good questions from the kids.”
Yesterday Brendan Lyon, Nathan’s older brother, and Mark McInnes ran a cricket camp for children aged 7-17, at Farrer.
It concludes today.
The young juniors were bating, bowling and fielding after probing away at Nathan, Brendan and Mark with some questions on the game.
For Brendan Lyon, 29, it was the first of what he hopes will be many coaching clinics, helping the juniors improve their game and maybe helping them attain their goals just as Nathan has.
He said the format was for the same again today but with wet weather forecast that could mean turning indoors at Farrer.
“It’s been great,” Lyon said.
“But we might have to move indoors if this wet weather comes. But these kids have been outstanding, there are some real talents among them.
“Matt Holmes, Joey Mead and Lara Graham look really good.”
Graham is in the Country squad and just back from trials at Kempsey before heading back to the coast for Country Championships in a few weeks.
