The only people who are gaining a benefit from drug laws in Australia are the law firms, the judiciary, the police, the correctional services and the drug dealers. No other person.
Apart from perhaps less than 1 per cent of the users of drugs in Australia, who actually are able to completely overcome their addiction, there is nothing in existence to prevent drug use, once and for all.
What we need in Australia are drug laws the same as Singapore. In Singapore, for drug related crime, they have a zero tolerance policy, no argument.
At dawn each Friday, they hang those involved in drug dealings.
The result is drug-related crime and drug use has almost completely disappeared in Singapore.
Singapore, as a city state, has a population of 5.4 million.
In Singapore, people have a future and everywhere you look people are happy and people are respectful.
The current unemployment rate in Singapore is 2 per cent.
I think Australia would do well to seriously consider what kind of future we really want and deserve.
When you compare Singapore to Australia, Singapore is so far ahead it’s not funny.
In the south east Asian region, Australia is being left behind.
Do we continue with the current stupidity or do we look at a brighter future?
