Greg and Kate Brady were heading home to Wauchope along the Oxley Highway at Woolbrook when tragedy struck on Friday afternoon.
Mr Brady was killed almost instantly when his bike collided with a white utility just after 4pm, while Mrs Brady who was riding pillion was critically injured when she fell from the motorbike.
A local nurse worked frantically to save the 35-year-old before the Westpac Rescue Helicopter was diverted to the scene after being tasked to Armidale.
Mrs Brady was airlifted to Tamworth Hospital with critical injuries including multiple fractures before later being flown to John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle.
Police confirmed to The Leader that the 35-year-old had died from her injuries in hospital yesterday morning.
It's believed the couple leave behind three children under the age of 15.
The driver of the utility and the sole occupant was not physically injured but was assessed for shock following the ordeal and was taken to Walcha Hospital for mandatory blood and urine tests.
Investigations into the cause of the accident are continuing and a report will be prepared for the coroner.
