Caban has been the most successful cowgirl in the APRA in the past six years and won the best of the best when she was victorious in the barrel race at last month’s Mt Isa Rotary Rodeo.
The win at Mt Isa puts Caban at the top of the standings for all around and the barrel race. Prize money alone determines standings and Caban now has the chance to increase her lead in the Warwick Rodeo on October 23-26.
Warwick is the only rodeo, other than the National Finals Rodeo, with competition over four days.
Junee rider Matt Hedlund heads the steer wrestling standings from Emerald (Qld) cowboy Kacey Kenny.
Emerald cowboy Shane Kenny is a runaway leader in the race for the all around pro tour title from current titleholder Shane Iker, of Alton Downs, and Emerald rider Grant Hanrahan.
The top New South Wales rider in all around cowboy standings is Walcha rough stock star Carl Green.
Shane Kenny leads the rope and tie, Hanrahan is top of team roping heeler standings and three Queenslanders head rough stock standings.
Warwick cowboy Michael Maher went from outside the top 15 to the lead with a win in saddle bronc at the Mt Isa Rodeo while Roy Dunn, of Proserpine, increased his lead in the bull ride with a win at Mt Isa.
Roma rider Jamie Howlett headed the standings going into Mt Isa and maintained the lead after finishing second behind Mt Isa and former Western Australian cowboy Deon Lane who is now second.
