He's been ruled ineligible for the Dally M Awards or the Brad Fittler Medal, but Paul Gallen could still walk away with arguably the most prestigious gongs of them all, those voted on by his peers. The Rugby League Players Association will hold its presentation ceremony at the Four Seasons on September 16. While the other awards ceremonies have chosen to disqualify Gallen from contention after accepting a backdated ban for taking banned substances, the NSW skipper is still in the running in all categories for the players' union night of nights "We're not making any changes to the eligibility criteria," said RLPA boss David Garnsey. "The awards presented will include awards for on-field performance and off-field contribution and achievement. They are peer-voted playing awards and therefore the winners are determined by votes by players throughout the season. Performances by all players in their respective categories are eligible for votes."
