A hobbling Dunn sat out last Saturday’s 129-point loss to the Inverell Saints at Tamworth’s No 1 Oval but was making no positive assurances.
“I’ve got a long way to go,” he said of an injury sustained when he had his legs swiped from beneath in an accidental collision a few weeks back.
He expects to have a fairly different side on the park for tomorrow’s semi-final against a Tamworth Kangaroos side which did lead minor premiers New England Nomads early in last Saturday’s final-round match in Armidale.
However the Nomads flexed their attacking muscle to take control in the second quarter and ease their way to a 25 point win.
Roos coach Bret Douglas was pleased with his side’s performance despite the loss.
“We did play well – put it together well at times.”
Ryan Painter, Brock Quinn and Chris Rankmore all played strongly to lead the way for the Roos and they will be spearheads again tomorrow.
Painter also kicked two goals, the ruckman indicating his versatility and mobility around the ground.
One disappointment was a hamstring injury picked up by Nic Frawley and he appears certain to miss a few weeks at least, Douglas said.
While the minor semi is played in Tamworth tomorrow, the major semi between New England Nomads and Inverell Saints will be played at Bellevue Oval tomorrow.
The Saints won their last encounter by a few points at Inverell a few weeks back.
It was their first win over the Nomads for almost two years.
They get their chance to inflict a second defeat, as well as earn a home grand final, tomorrow.
The Saints are coming off a huge win over the Eagles, booting 29 goals.
Lachlan McDonald kicked 11 of those and will be an energetic target again, along with Mike Gould, up front for the Saints while the Nomads have their own “little” star up front in the shape of Dave Richards.
He won the Gerry Griffiths Medal for leading goalkicker, booting 66 goals so far this season.
Last Saturday he kicked four of the Nomads’ 15, with Weston Whitby’s five goals a vital warning to the Saints to beware his brilliance in front of goals.
