Well Greg Daly (NDL, August 11) is right – the costs of the roundabout at Dampier St and the Oxley Highway is questionable and traffic lights more sensible.
Councillors and especially the planners (I think they call them) really don’t understand or know much about such complicated things as these systems.
It is not understood what a projected image is and if mentioned it would be a possible scramble to the retailers for this ultra modern new beaut TV system or projected image is a pre-medical surgical procedure and nothing to do with council.
Why do they make roundabouts?
Well, it’s cost cutting.
But in the, um, planning department of city council, you see they were all given compass sets to play with so they can amuse themselves with little circles and things and do those places with lots of cars, trucks, buses where things can go round and round, just like little iPad games do.
One futuristic plan is to build a bigger roundabout at Peel and Brisbane streets just like Canberra, so cars and trucks and things can go round and round.
I don’t know? I’m just a stupid old senior who knows nothing about anything but had the occasion to work in areas of conjunction with such things in the past and, of course, I don’t know what I’m jabbering about.
But Mr Daly is aware of a big mistake by council on a major intersection which is definitely going to get busier and worse in the not-so-far- away now.
He has worked out how you can keep the pretty little bit in the centre and have lights too. But someone said, you can’t do that.
If such as common sense was used and a planning department that knew what a plan was, with foresight, projected planning imaging and a simple prewire for the years ahead, you can have your lights up and running in a day.
Just like Sydney and still have play lunch money in the kitty.
Yes, $3 million is very questionable.
It is a good National Party council. Impractical. Unimaginable – the rate payers are the servants of the council. National Party policy is party power.
You would get a$3 million roundabout whether you want it or not.
