Over 30 new faces turned out for the morning session and were put through their paces by president and coach Adam Jolliffe.
“We take the little ones and show them all the different events,” Jolliffe said.
“The really young ones start with just four events with a new event added each year.”
“We also explain to the parents what their role can be.”
The Tamworth Club is 200 members strong and forms a part of the 40,000 participants nationwide.
It is a big year for the club as it hosts the Regional Carnival for the first time in six years.
The come and try day had another group of kids coming through on Sunday afternoon, putting on a free sausage sandwich for lunch.
This Sunday’s open day will start at 10am while the Tamworth Little Athletics season kicks off on October 10 with registrations only available online at www.lansw.com.au.
