In the end it came down to penalty corners to decide it, with five minutes each way of extra-time unable to split them from their 2-all stalemate.
Ben Venue won on corners 5-3.
South Tamworth coach Darrel Mole said the 2-all scoreline was indicative of the game.
“It was a very tight game,” he said.
“They were on top for the first 20, then we turned it around for the next 20 or 30.”
They were always chasing, with Ben Venue scoring first and then to make it 2-1.
Joey Mead nailed the leveller for South with about 10-15 minutes to go, Mole said.
He said they had a couple of close calls where they were looking like they might score after that but couldn’t put the ball in the back of the net.
They have played well as a team all the way through the competition, and did again on Monday.
“Both our goals came from a succession of passes,” Mole said.
“The first 20 minutes we were doing that much.”
They were a bit slow off the mark after making the trip north.
Mead was good up front while Boedee Thompson was strong in defence.
But the whole team played well, Mole said.
