Police will allege the 15-year-old boy and a co-accused pelted officers with projectiles from the roof of the Central Hotel on Sunday afternoon as they tried to resist arrest.
The two boys, aged 13 and 15, were spotted on the roof about 3pm before police were called to the scene.
The pair allegedly ignored directions to come down before Fire and Rescue NSW were alerted to help officers gain access to the roof.
The pair were arrested and safely escorted off the roof while a third boy was charged with failing to move on after he allegedly hindered arresting police.
The 13-year-old was charged with trespass and assault police offences and granted conditional bail to appear in court at a later date while the 15-year-old was refused bail by police.
He fronted the dock of Tamworth Children’s Court yesterday morning on seven separate offences relating to the incident.
His solicitor told the court she had been unable to extract proper instructions from her client. The teenager did not enter any pleas and did not make an application for bail.
Magistrate Michael Holmes formally refused bail and ordered the teenager to remain in custody until the case returns to court.
