In a final punctuated by rain, Samuelsson and Yates combined superbly to shut out the home-green combination of Lou Flett and Brian Sheppard, winning 26-17 to qualify for the northern zone play-offs. It was a close tussle early with Flett and Sheppard leading 6-5 after the first five ends. But Samuelsson and Yates grabbed four shots to hit the front and were never headed.
The Narrabri bowlers hit a purple patch, winning nine of 11 ends to take control of the match 25-10. Flett and Sheppard claimed six shots over the final two ends but it was a case of too little, too late.
Samuelsson would have been a strong contender for best-on-green selection with his immaculate draw bowling, backed up by a solid display by skip Yates.
Earlier, in the semi-final, Samuelsson and Yates had a few anxious moments before downing the Wee Waa BC combination of Col Anderson and Ray Dixon.
The Narrabri pair led 11-10 at the halfway mark and it was 14-all after 14 ends but Samuelsson and Yates then won four ends in a row for a decisive 20-14 break and held on to win by three shots.
