Kendall Public School made the trip across from the coast to meet Tamworth Public at the Minor League fields on Friday.
The visitors opened the scoring and were on top early on the back of a big pack. Tamworth Public answered back but Kendall went into the break up 8-6. The second half was highlighted by good scrambling defence and some big cover tackles from both sides. On the back of some repeat set, Tamworth Public launched one final attacking raid.
James Marshman put it on the boot for speedster Blair Maloney to outpace two defenders and dive on the ball to score on the bell and win 10-8.
They beat Moree East in similar fashion a fortnight ago to win the regional championship and will now compete for the state title.
